Christmas Vacation Part 6: Ringing in the New Year the Right Way

Is there any cooler place to celebrate the beginning of a New Year, than at Disneyworld in the Magic Kingdom? I would have to say that there is not!

Nathan and I got up early and had Bryan drive us over to our other hotel for our last night in Florida. Our room wasn't ready for us to put our luggage in, but they let us check in and check in our bags that would be delivered to our room when it was ready. They also put our room key on our Magic Bands so we were set. We booked it to the Magic Kingdom and just let our hotel take care of the rest. It was quite nice!

So I know I have been going on and on about how awesome the lines had been all week long.... It was a totally different story on New Year's Eve.... Oh my... Just even getting into the park was crazy! And it was just two of us with one bag. It took over half an hour to get in, and some people were quite grumpy. But we made it into the park and all was good.

Thankfully we had already had one and a half extremely successful days at that park. We used our fast passes to make sure we got to do the best and busiest of rides, and the rest of the time we enjoyed  the parades and less popular things like The Hall of the Presidents and Carousel of Progress.

I liked being more relaxed on our last day, and soaking in all of the magical atmosphere of Disney. Especially since it was jam packed that day. While Nathan and I were walking around in Tomorrowland we ran into a line that was giving out free top hats and noise makers. Everything was a party that day!

Nathan and I had talked about trying to get close to the castle for the New Year's Festivities, but had decided it was probably extremely unlikely we would get so lucky. Plus we didn't want to wait forever until midnight just for a good spot. While we were watching the last bit of the Electrical Parade go by, we decided to join the crowd in the street and follow it as we decided where to go next. The next thing we knew we were being stopped behind tape in the street right in front of the castle! Dreams really do come true!

During the two hours till midnight we got to enjoy the "Wishes" firework show twice and have a dance party. Then it was finally time for the count down to the New Year. There was so much excitement and energy. Those fireworks were breathtaking! I think its the most fireworks I've ever seen! They surround the park! I will never forget that amazing moment, and I'm so glad I got to share it with Nathan.

Getting out of the park was insane. I just hung onto Nathan and we worked our way toward the exit. We were ushered through a "secret" way behind the Main Street shops. We felt so cool and while we were walking on a part of Disney that not many people get to see. We made it out and continued to move with the crowd toward the busses.

Two busses came and went for our hotel, and then all of a sudden we didn't have any more busses coming to pick us up. All the other places were being picked up, but our line kept getting longer with more tired people waiting for a way home. Eventually they recruited other busses and we ended up on a super nice one with the biggest and softest seats I've ever sat in on a bus. I instantly fell asleep without even realizing I had, and before I new it we had made it back to our hotel. About two hours after getting through the gates at Disney. I'm telling you it was crazy packed!

We found our room, used our magic bands to get in, and found our luggage waiting for us. What service! We slept like babies that night. Well, we slept like babies for 4 hours. Then it was time to get up and go catch our flight home.

Our trip was seriously amazing and I'm glad we got to experience Disney during the holidays. It truly is the "Happiest Place on Earth"!
