Stockton is so much more interactive and playful. He will play catch with you if you roll or toss him a ball. He also loves to chase after balls that he pushes and tosses around the house. If we build a tower out of his toys he will instantly knock it down. When we play "I'm going to get you!", Peekaboo, or Hide and Seek he squeals and screams and laughs like crazy. He still loves to read books and will climb on my lap or pick them up on his own to flip through and "read". If you are holding him in your arms and ask for a high five he will give you one. His latest discovery is his tongue which is out and moving around making lots of new noises.
He is getting super strong and can hold himself up well. He has good balance, but is too nervous to let go of his support while standing. Stockton has stood on his own for about 20-30 seconds, but since then he won't even try. Stock does love to hold onto our fingers and walk around though.
We have finally taught Stockton how to say "mom"! It is the cutest. He usually says it when he wants more food though... I love when he's playing and will talk saying mom and dad for the whole conversation.
Christmas was perfect with Stockton! On Christmas Eve we went to my family's to celebrate. He enjoyed trying the German potato salad and Rotkohl (red cabbage). Stockton was super spoiled by everyone being the first grandchild and nephew on my side. He loves all of his toys. Stock was such a trooper staying up late while we all partied. He played with his toys, practiced climbing up and down stairs, and loved attention from everyone.
Christmas day we woke up and went to church. Later we went down to Nathan's family for lunch. It was a fun and relaxing day and again Stockton was spoiled with wonderful gifts. When we got home we had him open his gifts. One of the things we got him was a teepee. I was worried he wouldn't like it until he's a little older, but he loves it! We play hide and seek in it and peekaboo through the window. It's one of our favorite games!
New Years Eve was nice and relaxing at home. We had yummy snacks and enjoyed each others company. The year 2016 has been such an amazing year for us. The best part of all has been adding Stockton to our family. He really does bring us so much joy and we love seeing him grow and learn each day.
Sadly, at the start of the New Year we all got sick. I got food poisoning and then we all got colds. Probably one of the worst colds I have ever had! Stockton got the cold first. We noticed he wasn't playing with us as much one night. He was just sitting there when usually he is active and vocal. I picked him up and asked if he was ok and he instantly snuggled up to me. (And he is not much of a cuddler.) We cuddled the rest of the night and we were so sad our baby wasn't feeling well. For the next week Stockton was still a pretty happy boy, he just needed more sleep and cuddles.
