Christmas Vacation Part 1: FLORIDA!

The first 24 hours of our Christmas Vacation were absolutely crazy!

Nathan's dad dropped us off at the air port after an amazing Christmas day for our red eye flight. We were so excited for our vacation to start with our friends Bryan and Lauren. They arrived just a little after us, and before we knew it, it was time to board the plane. I knew I needed to try and sleep so that I would have energy for Florida, but I was just too excited. I got a good nap in on the plane, and during our hour layover in Atlanta. But for the most part I was up and ready to start our adventure. Random story about my nap in Atlanta. When I woke up from my quick power nap at our gate there was a man across the isle with a cockatoo out on his shoulder! I was so confused and honestly thought I was dreaming at first. But this man really did have his bird out of its cage while we were all just chilling there waiting for the plane.

Flying over Florida was pretty interesting. There was lots of water. I don't know if they were swamps, or ponds, or what, but it was fun to look out the window before we landed in Jacksonville. Once we were off the plane we quickly got our luggage and headed to our rental car. We were ready for breakfast and the beach! The beach was beautiful and it was fun to step in the Atlantic Ocean, but sadly it was a lot colder than we had anticipated for our beach day. We all still had a lot of fun though.

Then it was time to start the 2 hour drive down to Orlando. That's when the tiredness set in. Poor Bryan drove almost the entire way with us all sound asleep. Before we went to our hotel we made a quick stop at the Orlando Temple. It was very pretty. I love stopping by temples during vacations.

On our to our hotel we were in for a real treat.... TRAFFIC! Now this wasn't just any traffic. It was ridiculous! It took us over an hour to drive one mile to our hotel. We were losing our minds!!! We kept threatening to leave Bryan with the car and walk, but then decided we should stick it out together.

When we finally arrived to our hotel we were antsy! We had to do something! (We probably would have benefitted from going to bed, but we couldn't!) So we headed straight over to Disneyworld's Magic Kingdom! Unfortunately, Lauren wasn't feeling well and she had us go without her...

We arrived into the park on the Monorail, and we caught our first glimpse of all the lights. I was beyond excited! We were at Disneyworld!!! We had made it! Walking down Main Street with all of the Christmas decorations and Disney atmosphere is indescribable. I felt like a little kid and my dreams were coming true! The castle was breathtaking! Really the best way to describe it all is magical.

Being the night of the 26th of December we thought it would be painfully crowded and had prepared ourselves on the way over with pep talks, and had accepted the fact that we would probably only get to ride a couple of rides. Boy were we wrong! The three of us basically did every major ride in those few hours at night. We walked right on to Splash Mountain a couple of times in a row! I guess most people were deterred by a chilly night. But not us! We really made the most of our quick night trip. It really was too bad Lauren wasn't able to come with us.

Though we could have stayed a little longer we decided we should head back to Lauren and all get our rest so we would all be ready for our first full day at Disneyworld!!!
