5 Months Old

Baby boy is getting so big!!! This past month Stockton has become a lot more interactive! He loves to see what's going on and laughs a lot more easily. He's very interested in everything Nathan and I do and wants to be a big boy.

A couple of days after he turned 4 months old we got Stockton an Exersaucer. He loves it! When we first put him in it he was a little confused, but caught on quickly. I love his face when he's playing in it. He gets so intensely focused on the toys and it's adorable. His lips always end up in a pucker.

This past month I've tried to be a lot better about getting out and walking/running with him. Once he's up for the day we play for a bit, I feed him, and then we head out for some fresh air. Sometimes it's just the mile around our neighborhood and other times we've gone to the high school track with some friends from the ward. I enjoy our exercise time and I hope he will always likes being my workout buddy.

We've gone to Lagoona Beach a couple of times with him and it's been lots of fun. We walk around the lazy river with him wrapped in my Stekki Bebe wrap. (It's water friendly and so awesome!) He just stays snuggled up close to me and watches all the people float by while his legs soak in the water. Nathan and I have also taken him down the little kiddy waterslide. It was so cute watching Nathan hold him on his lap and take him down the first time. Sadly I didn't have my phone to capture it.

Lately Stockton has decided that he either doesn't like to or doesn't remember how to roll from his stomach to his back, but on July 20th he learned how to roll from his back to stomach. Any time I put him on his playmat or a blanket to play he instantly rolls onto his stomach. And every time he wakes up in his crib we find him on his stomach. Silly boy. He's really good at rolling over his left shoulder and the few days before he turned 5 months old he started getting better at rolling over his right.

I have been looking forward to Stockton laughing more and he's finally starting to find my silly faces and tickles funny. His laugh is the sweetest thing and makes my day every time. He's also been super cute with talking. Stockton has to be in the right mood, but when he is he will talk your ear off. Lately during his evening feeding he will look up at me, stop eating, smile, and then start to talk. Then he decides he needs to have some more to eat and he'll go through the cycle again. I love it so much!

Stockton has started doing some other cute things during this last month. During diaper changes he loves to play with his feet, which has made it a little tricky to take off and put on the diaper, and hug my arm when we are all done. Whenever I'm getting a drink of water and I'm holding him, Stockton reaches for the glass and pulls it toward his mouth. Also, when I am cuddling and lightly bouncing him to sleep I know he's getting close to falling asleep because he starts to do a sing-song sigh.

We've noticed for a while that Stockton is constantly tilting his head to his left. We mentioned it to his Pediatrician at his 4 month appointment, but he made it seem like it wasn't too big of a deal and that he'd grow out of it. The doctor did show us some stretches we could do if we were worried and said we could also see a physical therapist. One day we noticed it being super noticeable so I decided to ask the birth forum I'm a part of online to see if anyone else's little one tilted their head like Stockton. Everyone that commented said it was Torticollis and that he was probably positioned like that in the womb. People recommended doing stretches and seeing a physical therapist, or a chiropractor. After about a week of helping Stockton stretch his neck the other way we've noticed a big difference.

For our 5th Anniversary (5 years baby!!!) we went up to Burley, Idaho for the Spudman Triathlon that Nathan was doing with our friends the Leavitts. It was so fun to see them! It was our first experience camping in the Jeep with Stockton and he did awesome! He only got up once in the night. We had him in his Rock n' Play down by our feet and it worked out pretty well.

Nathan seriously rocked the triathlon this year! He beat his time last year by 12 minutes! Stockton and I had lots of fun cheering on daddy and our friends. Maybe next year I'll do it again? Maybe...

The beginning of August we went on a staycation with Nathan's family up at Wolf Creek. We had fun just relaxing, swimming, eating good food, and playing games. For some reason Stockton felt like he should be able to stay up with the big kids instead of go to bed like normal. The first night there I finally got him to sleep around 10:30 and he work up crying after about a minute of putting him down. (He wasn't use to the pack and play.) So I picked him up and Nathan took him. I told him "You need to go to bed silly boy!" and apparently that was the funniest thing he had ever heard. He laughed and laughed. Oh my goodness it was the cutest laugh I have heard yet! He was laughing so hard it made him tilt his head back and squeal! I'd say it again and he'd laugh some more. Oh he is the sweetest!

When we went swimming and put Stockton in the water! We had him try laying on his back, flying through the water, and trying to teach him how to splash. He was so good the whole time! I loved watching Nathan play with Stockton in the water. I really wish I would have brought my phone to the pool to take a picture of the cuteness!

At 5 Months Stockton:

• Is constantly sucking on his thumb, fingers, and toes
• Loves to roll onto his stomach and push up onto his knees
• Squeals when he's excited or is about to get upset (They are different pitches.)
• Enjoys his exersaucer and playing with toys and books
• Had his first breastmilk popsicle
• Avoids eye contact when he's nervous or unsure about something (Like when we try having him sit up and buckled in the stroller like a big kid)
• Still loves to be outside and "Lost Boy"
