A couple of days after Stockton turned 2 months old I was determined to get him nursing. I decided we needed to go cold turkey on the bottles. So on May 14th, Nathan and I dedicated the day to getting Stockton to nurse. We used the syringe and feeding tube the hospital sent home with us from his birth when we were first trying to get him to latch. We filled it with breastmilk I had pumped and fed it to him to get him interested. Then we would get him to get it while on the breast. We fed him his entire feedings this way. We made sure to give him the full 4 oz to make sure he was getting enough.
Sometimes it was hard and frustrating. I couldn't have done it without Nathan's help. But by the end of the night Stockton was starting to try and latch on himself without any incentive. By Sunday afternoon Stockton was latching on all by himself without the feeding tube!!! And he's been nursing 100% ever since!
He still loves listening to "Lost Boy" and will sit on his Dad's lap listening to him play it on the piano. (It's the sweetest thing!) Stockton also goes on walks around the neighborhood almost every day. It's so nice to get out of the house and enjoy the sunshine. We also took him on another hike. Stockton was not happy about the drive up the canyon. I think his ears weren't doing well with the pressure change. But once we were out and moving he enjoyed the hike.
We blessed Stockton on June 5, right before Stockton turned 3 months old. Nathan gave him the sweetest blessing. I was, and always am, overfilled with love and gratitude to have such an amazing man as my husband and father to Stockton. My boys are the greatest blessing in my life and I cannot thank my Heavenly Father enough for trusting me to take care of Stockton and be sealed to him and Nathan for all eternity.
It was such a wonderful day and we had so many loved ones there to help us celebrate Stockton's big day. We enjoyed a nice brunch at our house after Sacrament meeting. In the morning I kept reminding myself that I wanted to get lots of pictures of everyone that came and to get pictures of Stockton with us and his grandparents, but in all of the excitement I totally forgot! We did get pictures of Stockton with Nathan and me, and some cute ones with others that asked to take picture with Stockton, but I'm a little bummed I missed the others.
