Pregnancy: Weeks 6-9

Holy cow our life has been all over the place these days and I haven't written anything about being pregnant in weeks.... Hopefully I can be better about documenting this pregnancy.

So I got a positive home pregnancy test on July 11. WOHOO!!!! I called my doctor and set up a 6 weeks prenatal appointment on July 21 because I wanted to go in before the triathlon to make sure everything looked good before I did the hardest race I've ever done...

I took another home pregnancy test to make sure I was really pregnant on July 18. I was just so excited and still couldn't believe it. Plus, I really hadn't felt sick or anything. No pregnancy symptoms. Sometimes I thought about a nap, but I never really needed one.

Well, Nathan and I went in for the prenatal appointment and everything went well. It was kind of fun being told congratulations by everyone. It made me more and more excited! After all the questions and vitals we went in for the first ultrasound. I was so nervous... Would I see my teeny tiny little baby? Would there be a heart beat? And then... "Oh look! There's your cute little baby!"

I couldn't believe it! It finally felt real to me. I am really pregnant! I grabbed Nathan's hand and said, "Oh my goodness, we really are having a baby!" We were both pretty excited!! And maybe a little nervous too... It was nice having the ultrasound too so we would know if the fertility medicine made us have twins or not. (I was secretly excited at the idea of twins, but I'm just happy to have a sweet little baby that we will get to meet soon!)

The nurses measured the embryo and said I was measuring a little small, so they changed my weeks to 5 weeks and 6 days and put my due date as March 16th. (Happy Late Birthday Present to me!!) They were also able to find a heartbeat at 114 bpm.

Everything looked good and after talking with my doctor she gave me the ok to still do the Spudman Triathlon that Saturday.

This first trimester has been a blur so far with everything going on and I'm extremely grateful that I haven't been sick. Every now and then I get a little nauseous... but if I eat or rest it usually goes away pretty quick.

6 Weeks- Baby is the size of a chocolate chip! I completed the Spudman Triathlon and felt great. I definitely took a long nap after it though. I was tired! We also told our friends the Leavitts and Wetherells that we were expecting. (It was a little hard to hide with my crazy amount of napping, not getting in the hot tub after the Spudman Triathlon, and saying Jimmy John's probably wasn't the best idea for me because I can't have deli meat... haha) It felt so good to tell someone.

7 Weeks- Happy 4th Anniversary to Nathan and I! The baby is now the size of a blueberry. Packing for our move wore me out more than I thought it would. (By the way... the baby is tiny, but I have to get up and book it to the bathroom every. single. morning. around 5 am! It's insane!)

If I was any further along I probably wouldn't have fit in my wedding dress...

8 Weeks- Baby is now the size of a jelly bean, or raspberry, and growing fast. I've needed a nap almost every day with all of the packing, unpacking, and cleaning. We announced to our families and close friends that we are having a baby. It was so fun telling everyone all together after they helped us move into our new apartment. There were lots of cheers and hugs.

9 Weeks- We are finally all settled in our new apartment in Utah. To take a break from all of the craziness of moving, Nathan and I took a trip down to Moab. It was my first time down there and I loved it! I still get a little nauseous if I don't eat regularly (when I'm hungry, I'm hungry and I have to eat right away), or tired here and there, but really I feel pretty great. Baby is now the size of a green olive. I need to find a new doctor down here so we can see our cute little baby again. Also, I'm starting to feel bigger. I know it's a tiny bump and not noticeable, but my body shape is definitely changing.
