My brother, Stefan, has been using my dad's old desk forever. This last year he decided he wanted to buy himself a new desk, and he got a super nice one. No one else in the family wanted the old desk, so I jumped on it! It would be perfect for a sewing/crafting table for me. I also was looking for a fun project for the summer. I made sure nobody would miss it, and that I was good to change it to my liking. My family said to have at it. I couldn't wait!
First we had to clean and fix up the desk... It had a lot of dust behind the drawers and was missing a wood piece on the bottom. Then we filled the original handle holes because we couldn't find 2" handles anywhere to replace them.
Once those had dried, we primed up the whole thing. (The desk had laminate on top, so there was no point in sanding.)
Next came the paint! I love the color! It looks so classy. We did two coats and it turned out perfect.
With the new paint job and different handles it's a completely different desk. Now it's time to get sewing!
Before and After
This looks great! We need to find a desk to fix up so Brad can have a study space. I don't know much about paint and primer and all that stuff so I'll be calling for advice if we find a desk!

ReplyDeleteSuper cute! Good job!
ReplyDeleteNicole, I'm blog-stalking, and I love this project! I'm a little jealous you have space (and time, haha) to do stuff like this! :)
